Finalists announced for AEC Excellence Awards 2019

The wait is almost over, and we’re one step closer to announcing the winners of the AEC Excellence Awards 2019! Along with our co-sponsors Construction Dive, SmartCities Dive, Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and Informed Infrastructure, we’re excited to reveal this year’s incredible group of finalists.

There’s a complex bridge over one of the most heavily traveled highways in Germany; they applied digital planning methods to develop a single source of truth model. There’s an intelligent underground wastewater treatment plant in China that serves one million people using BIM data, IoT, and sensors. And the University of Arizona Health Sciences Innovation building shows how much impact prefabrication can make on project outcomes. These are just three of innovative projects chosen as finalists. Together, all the finalists showcase the ingenuity and incredible work being done in the AEC industry across the world.

Eighteen judges faced the difficult task of narrowing down 27 finalists from more than 186 submissions. This year’s categories of building design, construction, and infrastructure include small, medium, and large-sized projects ranging from less than $1 Million to more than $4 Billion. That’s because technology, collaboration, and innovation happen no matter the size of a project.

For the second year, the Innovator of the Year award will also recognize a user of technology that is leading, changing, and transforming the design and/or construction process for their project, company, or industry in a positive way. This category received 43 entries from 19 different countries representing a diverse group of AEC industry professionals.

In addition to announcing the Innovator of the Year, we look forward to unveiling all 10 winners in October and honoring their achievements at the Autodesk University Las Vegas AEC Customer Showcase Celebration breakfast on November 19.
